“I have stayed in St Mark’s for rehabilitation now four times and each time it’s like coming home to family. I enjoy the staff, and the nursing care is outstanding and gracious. This is a great place to come when you need help to get back on your feet. (By the way, the food here is good AND healthy.)”

Did You Know?

Some of the terminology used for talking about senior housing and services can be confusing if you’re not familiar with the variety of living and care options now available.

Retirement home — a common name for what we call an Independent Living community, where care services are not needed, and residents live in a private apartment with full community amenities and private parking

Nursing home or Rest home — throwback names for what we call Long-Term Care, where licensed nurses are available and attending to individuals regularly 24/7. In the Austin area, another name for this critical service is skilled nursing facility.
